We Love Jungle presents: An interview with Ragga Twins

>What does Jungle mean to you?

Jungle means unity, peace, and love – it actually means the world to us because we created it.

Has your approach to MCing changed since you first started out?

No it hasn’t; it has always been to make people happy, laugh, and to educate.

Where in the world do you think the best Jungle crowd is?

The best crowd is in the UK, as it was born here.

What’s your top Jungle tune at the moment?

‘Killer Sound’ by ourselves, Billy Bunter and Hattricks.

What up-and-coming DJs and MCs are impressing you at the moment?

DJs: Aries, Jungle Citizens, DJ Krucial, and Blazemore. MCs: Pedro Slimer, Mtek and Uknown Mc.

f Mcing wasn’t your job what would it be?

Flinty-I would definitely have been a footballer, Deman-If I never made it as a footballer, I would’ve been a football commentator.

Why do you think jungle is still going strong?

Jungle is still going strong because of all the DJs and MCs sticking with it through thick and thin also the new skool lot have come in and put a extra dimension into the music which has given it a new lease of life.

Jungle was a musical answer to the social and political situation in 1991, do you think Jungle still represents our currant state of affairs?

We never looked on it as a hit out against the government, we just looked on it as a source of music that was different to what anyone in the world was doing. The government just got caught up in the crossfire. Jungle represents a class of its own.

What’s your party trick?

Our party trick is turning up at a party!!!

Any new projects coming up?

Loads of projects in the pipeline, the new Ragga Twins album to be released and our 25 years celebration party being held at Fire in Vauxhall.
