We Love Jungle presents: An interview with MC Conrad

We Love Jungle presents: An interview with MC Conrad

What does Jungle mean to you?

Jungle is, and always has been to me, a “hybrid” form of music where suggestions in tone, vibe, rhythm, melody and words can be expressed with endless combinations and styles.

Has your approach to MCing changed since you first started out?

Yes and no…. Yes because I had no real insight into being a stage performer with the music community when I started. I’ve since learned a great amount of knowledge from all areas of the scene. No because I still want to be as good as RUN DMC, LL Cool J, Chuck D, Rakim & Pharoe Monch in one performance.

Where in the world do you think the best Jungle crowd is?

Anywhere that’s not heard jungle before and that has an open mind to new sounds… you can’t beat seeing Jungle/DnB virgins.

What’s your top Jungle tune at the moment?

Screwface is Dead – Juiceman & DJ Ricochette.

What up-and-coming DJs and MCs are impressing you at the moment?

Traffic MC, Texas, Skittles, foe emcees & I’m still waiting for a DJ to do something exciting behind the decks in this era of jungle/dnb.

If MCing wasn’t your job, what would it be?

A chef… I’m a foodie.
